Full to the brim with Cork pride
Five community groups have been chosen to represent Cork county at this year’s IPB Pride of Place Awards.
The Pride of Place Judging Panel will be in Cork from 10-12 September to assess the community projects which were chosen by Cork County Council, in consultation with its elected members. This year marks the 23rd anniversary of the competition which is run on an all-island basis in conjunction with local authorities north and south of the island.
Cork County Council’s nominations for 2025 are:
- Cobh Tourism Committee under the Community Tourism Initiative Category
- The Mourneabbey Community Council under the Population Category 1000-2000
- Tracton Biodiversity Group under Climate Action and Biodiversity
- Kinsale Community Youth Café under Community Youth Initiative
- The Mizen Committee under Inclusive Communities.
Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Mary Linehan Foley, said: “This is a remarkable achievement for these communities. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their outstanding contribution within their local communities and the positive impact this has had on the wider community.
“I wish them the very best of luck in the IPB Pride of Place Judging 2025.”
The winners of the IPB Pride of Place will be announced at an Awards Ceremony in November which takes place in Limerick.
Cork County Council would congratulated everyone on their wonderful achievements and valued contributions to their communities and wished all the nominated groups the very best of luck in the competition.
The IPB Pride of Place awards were established to promote and celebrate the best in community development.
The awards recognise the selfless efforts of people in making their local neighbourhoods better places to live, work and socialise.
