Cashless parking hits Kinsale
A new cashless parking service is now available in all Cork County Council-operated parking spaces within the pay parking zone in Kinsale.
Following successful rollouts in Cobh, Youghal, and Fermoy, the service has now gone live in one of county Cork’s most popular tourist towns — with further expansions planned across the county in the coming months.
Payzone’s cashless parking system makes parking faster, easier, and more flexible for everyone — whether you’re a local resident, daily commuter, or visitor enjoying Kinsale’s vibrant streets and scenic harbour.
Motorists can now pay for parking in several convenient ways:
Mobile app: Download the Cork County eParking app or the Payzone app on Android or iOS.
Online: Pay directly at countycorkparking.ie using a debit or credit card.
In-store: Pay at any participating Payzone retail outlet.
Cash payments remain available through existing on-street parking meters, giving users the flexibility to choose the option that suits them best.
Mayor of the County of Cork, independent Cllr Mary Linehan Foley, welcomed the introduction of the new system.
She said: “This initiative represents a significant step forward in enhancing the accessibility and convenience of parking for residents and visitors alike. Cork County Council is committed to embracing innovative technologies that improve service delivery, and we look forward to extending this solution to other towns across the county in the near future.”
The introduction of cashless parking marks another step in modernising Cork County Council’s parking services. The system complements existing machines — many of which already accept both cash and card — and offers a smoother, more sustainable experience.
Tourists will also benefit, as Payzone operates across multiple counties in Ireland, allowing visitors to use the same app wherever they travel. This makes parking simpler and gives people more time to explore Kinsale’s famous restaurants, boutique shops, and historic attractions.
The new system also reduces reliance on paper tickets and cash, supporting a move towards smarter, greener technologies and more eco-friendly living.
Motorists are advised that Cork County Council and Cork City Council operate separate parking systems, which are not interoperable.
