Dublin indie rock outfit Kodaline will call it a day next year.

Kodaline to say final goodbye with Cork gig

One of the biggest Irish bands of the modern era will perform one of two farewell shows in Cork next summer.

Indie rockers Kodaline will say a final, heavy-hearted goodbye to their Leeside fans with a show at Cork’s Virgin Media Park on 19 June.

Tickets for the show go on sale at 9am tomorrow, Friday, and are priced from €54.85-€65.70 on ticketmaster.ie.

The band will perform a second farewell show in their home town of Dublin the following day. The Cork and Dublin shows will mark the end of the band’s journey but also the release of their final album which they are currently preparing to record.

Having formed in Dublin in the mid-2000s under the name 21 Demands, the group changed its name to Kodaline in 2012 and, now a four-piece, went on to release four highly acclaimed studio albums between 2013 and 2020, gaining fans around the world.

The news of their upcoming separation was announced last week with a heartfelt message to fans.

They wrote: “Hi everyone. After over a decade together we’ve made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Kodaline. We know this might come as a surprise, and it’s definitely bittersweet for us too.

“What we’ve shared with you has changed our lives forever. From busking on the streets of Dublin to selling out shows and arenas across the world, it really has been the stuff that dreams are made of.

“We want to end on a high, so before we say goodbye, we’re heading into the studio one last time, to record our 5th and final album as Kodaline.”

The band said: “We are, and always will be, forever grateful for your love and support. It’s been a journey that we will never forget, and we hope the music stays with you long after we’re gone.

“To celebrate the final album and final chapter of Kodaline, we’re going to play in Dublin and Cork next summer. We can’t wait to see everyone.

“Thanks for all your support over the years it’s been an incredible journey. With all our love, Steve, Vinny, Mark, and Jay.”
