Cork wastewater treatment company acquired by CSG

Irish-owned chemical solutions provider Chemical Solutions Group (CSG) has agreed terms to acquire Cork-based Celtic Water Care Solutions Limited (Celtic Water Care, CWC), a wastewater and effluent treatment chemicals specialist.

The move will bring CWC into the group as a wholly owned subsidiary. It is part of a longer-term growth strategy on the part of CSG, which is targeting revenues of €150 million by 2030. It has recently expanded into the UK, with a port facility at Immingham, Lincolnshire, and is investing at its existing sites in Shannon and Foynes.

CSG’s CEO Kevin Quinn, said the move will add “further regional depth and service capability” and extend CSG’s reach in industrial wastewater.

“Bringing Celtic Water Care Solutions into the CSG family strengthens our presence in Cork and the wider Munster region, adds complementary wastewater and effluent treatment services to our chemistry-led offering, and helps us support customers with even greater continuity from plant to process,” he said.

Founder and owner of CWC, John O’Connor said the merger was a “very positive step”.

“It means continuity first and foremost – the same team, the same hands-on approach and the same understanding of their plants and processes, now backed by the technical strength and security of supply that CSG provides,” he said.

CSG was incorporated in 2025 and became the parent company for Chemifloc – which was established in Galway in 1981 – and GI Chemicals – which it acquired in the 2010s.

The transaction is subject to merger control clearance by the Competition & Consumer Protection Commissions (CCPC) and is expected to complete during Q1 2026.
