Walk in Pink this Mother’s Day

Take a walk down by the Lee this Sunday and do it in pink! This Mother’s Day, the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) are asking everyone to help them get one step closer to a cure by getting out this Sunday for Walk in Pink.

Take a stroll, walk the dog or get together with family and friends on Mother’s Day, this Sunday 15 March and help make a difference for the many Irish women dealing with breast cancer.

Cork’s Walk in Pink event will take place along the lovely Lee Fields. Those taking part are asked to assemble from 10am at The Kingsley Hotel car park, walk along the Lee Fields and return to the hotel.

A spokesperson for NBCRI said: “1 in 7 Irish women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, with over 3,587 cases diagnosed annually. These women are our mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, friends and neighbours. We know these women, they play major roles in our lives

“Funds raised from the walk will go directly to support the breast cancer research team at the Lambe Institute, University of Galway.”

NBCRI funds a comprehensive research programme at the University of Galway.

Breast cancer research has improved the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. NBCRI wants to fund these research programmes to continue to impact the outcomes for those who develop the disease in the future.
