Serves up in Ballydehob
Locals in Ballydehob will soon have the perfect serve thanks to a revamp of the tennis courts.
As well as Ballydehob Tennis Courts, upgrade works have been completed at the multi-use games area and playground. The works included new basketball hoops as well as replacing fencing and gates.
The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley said: “This project has breathed new life into a vital public space in Ballydehob. This is a shining example of Cork County Council’s commitment to community development, as these updated facilities will serve both locals and visitors of all ages.”
Upgrade works at Ballydehob Tennis Courts and Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) were completed with support from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht under the CLÁR Programme.
The works included drainage and groundwork, a new porous asphalt playing surface, line marking, new basketball hoops, and replacement perimeter fencing and gates, bringing the facilities up to modern standards.
In addition, Cork County Council secured funding through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme to enhance the Ballydehob Playground. Located adjacent to the village centre, the playground is an important community amenity.
