Talent and colour come together

Students across Cork have a few weeks left to wait until the winner of a popular art competition is announced.

Young artists who submitted entries to this year’s Texaco Children’s Art Competition are currently having their works evaluated as the judging process gets underway.

Preliminary adjudicator Marie Connole has been admiring many entries, one of which was received from Cork this year – a work entitled ‘Home, Fields Of Gold’ by a pupil from Mayfield Community School.

Winners in six age categories plus one category reserved exclusively for young artists with additional needs, will be announced in mid-April.

Now celebrating its 72nd year, the Texaco Children’s Art Competition is the longest-running art sponsorship in Ireland.

First held in 1955, it is hosted by Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited – the company that markets fuel in Ireland under the Texaco brand.
