Witness appeal after serious assault

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in Cork city which has left a man in critical condition.

Shortly after 3am on Tuesday morning, gardaí patrolling the Mayfield area of Cork city discovered the badly injured man at Liffey Park.

The man, who is in his late 30s, was transported by ambulance to CUH where he remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Liffey Park area during the early hours of Tuesday morning to come forward with any information.

Anyone who may have camera footage—including dash-cam footage—is asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.

The scene has been preserved for forensic and technical examination and investigations are ongoing.
