Teen allegedly stabbed
No arrests have been confirmed in an ongoing investigation into a knife attack on a teenager in Cork city over the weekend.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident shortly after 9pm in Blackpool on Sunday where a teenaged boy was found with serious stab wounds.
The boy is reported to be 15 years old.
Local Cork city councillor and former lord mayor John Sheehan (FF), described the incident as “shocking” and uncommon for the area.
He said: “Blackpool is generally a safe place and it’s shocking when something like this happens. It is a strong vibrant community, and I would encourage anyone with information regarding the incident to report it to the gardaí.”
It is understood he was attacked in a typically busy part of Blackpool before making his way to a nearby Daybreak shop where he collapsed.
The youth was treated at the scene before being brought by ambulance to CUH for treatment of injuries said to be non-life threatening.
At this time, gardaí are yet to appeal publicly for witnesses to the assault.
