Cork city cafés to open late for music and much more!
Cork’s coffee houses and restaurants are once again set to keep their doors open into the evening later this week for another edition of Coffee House Lates.
Now entering its third year, the initiative showcases Cork’s café culture while supporting Cork City Council’s ambition to expand the city’s evening and night-time offering.
Independent cafés and restaurants across the city will stay open late, hosting an exciting programme of events tonight and tomorrow, Thursday and Friday 24-25 September. Events are running from 6pm to 10pm.
From live music and poetry to markets and creative experiences, Coffee House Lates transforms participating venues into vibrant hubs of creativity, culture, and connection after dark.
The initiative was launched in 2024 in response to a growing demand for alcohol-free evening activities.
Many of the participating venues are within walking distance of each other, so visitors can easily create their own Coffee House Lates trail and experience multiple events across the city throughout the evening.
On Thursday there will be events at Kino Event House, Moon Child Matcha Bar, 115 Café, Alchemy Coffee, and Don Gregorio, which will include coffee, music, yoga, a craft market, and tiramisu.
Following this on Friday, there will by live music, coffee, and poetry at Sabor Brazil, SOMA Coffee Company in their Tuckey Street location, the Lough Café, Bakestone Café, 115 Café, and Don Gregorio.
Cork City Council Night-Time Economy Advisor Fiona Collins said: “The continued popularity of the events demonstrates a strong appetite for inclusive, alcohol-free evening experiences that allow people to connect, relax, and enjoy the city after dark.
“Coffee House Lates showcases the creativity and warmth of Cork’s café culture while contributing to a more vibrant and diverse night-time economy,” she said.
Clara O’Neill, President of the CBA said: “The participating coffee shops in this week’s Coffee House Lates had no hesitation joining up again, which is testament to the success of previous Coffee House Lates and the desire for non-alcohol centred entertainment.”
