Tá brón orm leis an crá croí

Cork-based post-punk band Crá Croí have announced the release of their debut album. 'Tá brón orm' - 'sadness is on me' in Irish - will be released on Friday 30 October.

To mark the announcement, Crá Croí has already released three singles from the new album, which can be found on any digital music storefront or streaming service.

'Lord of the Wild', 'Black Snow', and 'Just Another Day' offer listeners a first glimpse into the album's dark and driving sonic landscape.

A deeply philosophical journey, 'Tá brón orm' features lyrics exploring the bleak realities of war and nuclear devastation, heavily inspired by apocalyptic cinema of the 1980s.

These dystopian visions are seamlessly woven together with existential inquiries into the human condition, and with dark tales unearthed from Irish mythology.

Crá Croí - torment of the heart, heartache, or vexation in Irish - are a Cork-based duo whose sound fuses post-punk atmospheres, synth driven beats, a cinematic production, and stark lyricism.

Fans of Grave Pleasures, The Sisters of Mercy, The Cult and Héroes del Silencio will find themselves at home with Crá Croí's bleak yet captivating sonic universe, characterised by haunting sythesizers, propulsive rhythms and deeply atmospheric guitars.

Entirely self-produced by veteran musicians RG and CD, their music exists in the tension between beauty and breakdown. Both have had long careers in the music industry. RG for instance has performed in almost a dozen bands in the metal scene since the 1980s.

Some of their musical influences include groups like The Who, Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam, Joy Division, and artists such as Frank Zappa.

This DIY approach extends from sound to visuals, where the pair have crafted a fully realised aesthetic that merges sonic beauty and catchy hooks with apocalyptic.

Lyrically, they describe themselves as “poets of the chaos, chronicling broken dreams, lingering despair, and the pull between rising from the ashes or surrendering to the fall”.

Updates from the band, including video premieres and release announcements can be found on the band's YouTube channel and social media platforms.
