Ready for party season?

I have a few events coming up and also, dare I say, party season is on the horizon, so I’m trying to plan a couple of failsafe outfits to have in my arsenal at home.

Pieces that I can pull out and will take me from fashion events to nights out and even a celebration or two. I’ve been assessing what I already have, and I’ve noticed that I have a couple of simple dresses and jumpsuits that would be so easy to dress up and just require me to get creative with my styling. For me, it’s all about a few additions to the look with particular focus on my jackets and my accessories, something that I have in spades in my wardrobe.

I recently rediscovered a black vintage dress that I’ve had forever and it’s the perfect base for any statement jacket. I have paired it with embellished, beaded vintage jackets and also with colourful silk jackets. They instantly make what your wearing super dressy and a vintage jacket also works incredibly well over a jumpsuit to give a full on '70s glam feel which we love. Take it a step further with the addition of a faux fur collar, it gives a feeling of luxe and also very handy to keep you warm and stylish. I have a grey faux fur collar that I have worn over countless outfits over the years and it has been a great investment.

When it comes to accessories, you really cannot go wrong with the addition of a statement handbag. I have one particular bag that I got in Cork boutique Veronica's Closet a few years ago and it has elevated so many outfits for me. From simple black dresses to jeans and a jacket combination, it is always the standout piece in whatever outfit I pair it with. Meaning even the simplest of outfits looks put together and considered. If you’re looking to invest in a really special bag for your wardrobe, then Irish label Maya Grisham would be top of my wish list. They are spenny but absolutely gorgeous.

Maya Grisham is a contemporary luxury accessories house specialising in handcrafted, crystal-embellished handbags, minaudières and statement accessories, taking everything from a perfectly poured pint to a packet of butter and transforming them into meticulously crafted luxury pieces. Founded by designer and creative director Kimberly Tino, Maya Grisham has developed a distinctive design language built around craftsmanship, cultural storytelling and a playful sense of humour. Rather than looking solely to traditional luxury references for inspiration, the brand finds beauty in the familiar. Food, drink, pop culture and symbols of Irish life are elevated through thousands of sparkling crystals, intricate detailing, and hours of hand craftsmanship to create accessories designed to start conversations.

The iconic Kerrygold Clutch Bag takes inspiration from one of Ireland’s most recognisable exports, transforming the familiar gold packaging into a crystal covered statement piece. Each bag is handcrafted to order, with the creation process taking approximately 25 days creating a truly bespoke piece that will be an heirloom in your wardrobe. Nostalgia takes centre stage with the Quality Street Inspired Clutch, turning the familiar confectionery tin into an unexpected piece of eveningwear which would make this an ideal piece to add luxury and some quirkiness to your festive party looks. Other designs across the Maya Grisham collection draw inspiration from Irish and popular culture, including Barry’s Tea, Brennan’s Bread, the Irish harp, shamrocks, Tayto crisps and even the humble pigeon.

Your accessories bring individuality to your look and are a great way to ingest some personality to your party wear.
