Policy of the Transparency of Political Advertising Information Regulation (EU) 2024/900

  1. It is the policy of the Cork Independent to comply with the EU standards of transparency as set out in Regulation 2024/900, which came into effect on 10 October 2025.
  2. The regulation requires all advertisements to carry basic information on the person or organisation placing the advertisement and provide information to the public on how to access further details on the political campaign and costs. A statement with this information must be included in the body of the advertisement.
  3. The person or organisation placing the advertisement must provide clear links to a website, email, or telephone number, which members of the public can use to access further information.
  4. This regulation applies to political advertisements placed by individuals, political parties, political alliances, and political groupings.
  5. Many advertisements are placed as part of a campaign of advertising, group booking, or through intermediate advertising agencies. Only the person or organisation ordering the advertisement knows the true and full cost of the campaign or advertisement. The Cork Independent relies on the person or organisation to make the information specified in the regulation available to the public.
  6. The Cork Independent will work with all advertisers and agencies to achieve compliance but reserves the right to refuse advertisements which it deems do not comply with the regulation.
  7. Sample notice in a political ad:

This is a political advertisement on behalf of (politician’s name), published by the (party name) as part of a Christmas
campaign. Further details are available at www.abcparty.ie/transparency
