Cork actor and TV presenter Siobhán McSweeney will host 'The Traitors Ireland' starting at the end of the month.

‘The Traitors Ireland’ date confirmed

The Irish version of a hugely popular TV show full of chaos, suspicion, and stylish skulduggery has been given an official broadcast date.

Hosted by Cork’s own Siobhán McSweeney, ‘The Traitors Ireland’ will officially premiere on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on 31 August.

This week saw the exclusive reveal of ‘The Traitors Ireland’ promo and official key art.

Filmed on the banks of the Boyne in Slane Castle, the spine-tingling new adaptation of the global phenomenon brings suspicion, strategy, and sabotage to Irish soil.

Actor and TV presenter Siobhán, known best for her role as Sister Michael in the hit show ‘Derry Girls’, said she is a huge fan of the show and jumped at the chance to host the Irish version.

“The Irish have a charm and ability to deceive while smiling which will make this version rather special, I think. And I’m the luckiest person in the world to watch them close up,” she said.

The show begins as a group of strangers arrive at the castle. Their mission: to win €50,000 without getting murdered or banished (in the game). The twist? The traitors walk amongst them, sowing seeds of doubt and deceit at every turn.

Viewers can expect conniving glances over banquet breakfasts, whispers in corridors, and enough drama to make even the most loyal viewer question their instincts. As tension rises and alliances crumble, viewers will be left asking: who’s lying, who’s loyal, and who’s next?

As well as the weekly episodes, comedian, TV presenter, and actor Kevin McGahern, will delve into the behind the scenes in ‘The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked’. As soon as viewers have finished with their latest fix of ‘The Traitors Ireland’, they’ll be able to join Kevin and celebrity guests and players from the game for all the best analysis and reaction. ‘Uncloaked’ will take fans deeper into Slane Castle with dissection of the episodes and exclusive access to the banished and murdered players. The show will be available on RTÉ television, RTÉ Player, and all podcast platforms.

Filmed in RTÉ Limerick, each episode will feature an exclusive interview with the banished or murdered player. With bonus unseen footage, some will learn the identity of the Traitors for the very first time!

‘The Traitors’ was created and developed by IDTV and POSVIDEO, in cooperation with RTL Creative Unit. Since its launch in the Netherlands in 2021, the format has proved its international appeal with more than 30 territories adapting local format versions.
