Initiative helps people to believe in themselves

An exciting initiative is offering adults on Cork’s Northside the chance to gain skills, confidence, and qualifications in a supportive, community-based setting.

The Cork Workside Initiative Northside Project (Cork WIN), run in partnership with Northside Community Enterprises (NCE), is now enrolling new learners for its upcoming programme. Starting this September, Cork WIN learning training initiative (LTI) will deliver the QQI Level 4 Employability Skills programme. This practical course prepares learners for today’s workplace with modules such as communications, work experience, customer service, functional maths, entrepreneurial skills, digital media, tourism visitor care, and personal effectiveness and more!

The programme not only provides valuable workplace knowledge but also supports personal growth and lifelong learning. As part of NCE’s long-standing commitment to education and employment in the northside, Cork WIN focuses on encouragement and confidence-building. Learners progress throughout the year long course, supported by experienced tutors who bring energy, expertise and a supportive approach to the classroom.

Hannah, a former student said: “Cork WIN is about more than qualifications, it’s about helping people believe in themselves and take the next step, whether that’s further study, employment, or a new opportunity.

“The programme is open to all. No previous qualifications are required, just a willingness to learn and a desire to move forward,” she added.

Enrolment is now open for the September intake, but places are limited. For more details, contact Cork WIN at 021-4228100, email LLehane@NCE.ie, or drop into NCE, Farranferris, Redemption Road, Cork city.
