Global expansion in mind for Cork’s NRG Awareness

A new €4 million training centre and office block has opened in Glanmire which will focus on product development and education as part of plans to lead green energy transition.

Cork-based heating solutions specialist NRG Awareness in Brooklodge, which employs 15 staff, has built the new facility with future expansion in mind. The company sells exclusively through merchants and is already supplying the UK market, with further European and international expansion planned.

The investment includes the purchase and redevelopment of the Brooklodge Business Park site, transforming it into a state-of-the-art hub for product innovation and professional training in sustainable heating.

The company’s two top priorities are product development and specialised training, with a strong emphasis on equipping installers, plumbers, and heating professionals to deliver energy-efficient systems. Mark Dineen, Managing Director of NRG Awareness, explained: “Our mission is to deliver market-leading products while ensuring the industry has access to the highest standards of training. Heating is changing rapidly, with most homes and businesses now transitioning towards more renewable approaches and often combining traditional fossil fuel systems with renewable technologies.

“Our role is to ensure this transition is made as seamless as possible by providing the right products and specialised training to keep the industry ahead of the curve. That’s why we’re continuously investing in upskilling and education, alongside developing future-proof heating solutions,” Mr Dineen concluded.

David Rea, Director of Technical Services said: “It’s great to see the progress of NRG Awareness — from an idea to where we are today — built on hard work and a great team. This new facility will make it even easier for us to grow as a company and look confidently to the future.”

Speaking at the opening, Commissioner Michael McGrath said: “It is a great pleasure to officially open this new facility in Glanmire. NRG Awareness exemplifies the spirit of innovation rooted in Cork, combining local commitment with a global vision. Their dedication to cutting-edge training and future-proof solutions aligns perfectly with our shared goals to meet national and EU climate targets. Investments like this not only drive economic growth here at home but also position us as leaders in the green transition.”
