Jobs on the Horizons in West Cork
"Every day is different and I get to support people in achieving their goals, big and small.”
Those were the words of Care Assistant Pamela Twomey with Horizons, formerly the Cope Foundation, as the charity is looking to expand its workforce in West Cork.
Horizons is growing and seeking candidates for care assistants, nurses and social care worker vacancies throughout West Cork. The largest disability services organisation in Cork has locations in Clonakilty, Bandon, Macroom and Skibbereen.
The organisation, which supports more than 2,800 people with an intellectual disability and/or autism, is hosting a recruitment open day in the Clonakilty Park Hotel on Saturday 18 October from 11am-4pm.
Care Assistant Pamela Twomey has been working with Horizons for 25 years. She added: “It’s not just a job, it’s about making a real difference in the community and being part of a team that truly cares.”
Founded in 1957, Horizons has a strong reputation for person-centred care and is dedicated to building inclusive communities where people are valued, supported, and empowered.
Newly appointed CEO of Horizons, Lorraine Egan said: “Care assistants, social care workers and nursing staff truly make a difference in people’s lives. Not only in achieving large goals but also in everyday interactions which enable the people we support to live fulfilling and happy lives. Some examples of goals our staff have supported people to achieve include trips to meet the Pope, moving into homes of their own, gaining paid employment and achieving QQI qualifications and Gaisce awards.”
People who are highly motivated and passionate about working in the disability sector are invited to attend where they will meet the team and learn more about the roles that are available in the West Cork region.
Ms Egan added: “We are proud to be strengthening the supports available for people in the community of West Cork. Our staff are the heart of our organisation, and we are looking forward to welcoming new colleagues who share our values of respect, inclusion, and compassion. We support and guide staff to enable them to fulfil their potential and career aspirations.
“By joining our team, you will not only build a rewarding career, but you also play a vital role in helping people live full and meaningful lives.”
