Council green lights local economic plan

Cork County Council has approved its Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) Annual Report and Year 2 Implementation Plan.

The report sets out an overview of the actions carried out from the Initial Implementation Plan over the first year of the LECP, highlighting the progress made and laying the foundation for continued work moving forward.

Mayor of County Cork Cllr Mary Linehan Foley said the “progress reflected in this report demonstrates the commitment of Cork County Council and our partners to creating meaningful change”.

“From supporting enterprise and innovation to strengthening community resilience, the work being done is making a real difference across the county.

“The input and participation of elected members, the council’s executive and economic and community stakeholders throughout this process demonstrates the shared vision to promote the development of our county as an attractive, competitive and sustainable place to live, visit, and do business,” she said.

Chief Executive of Cork County Council Moira Murrell said the “LECP is built on partnership”.

“Our advisory group, which brings together over 50 representatives from across the public sector, infrastructure providers, business and economic sectors, educational institutions, and community organisations, is actively working to address key issues and deliver shared priorities.

“This diverse group ensures that the plan reflects the real needs and opportunities of Cork county. Their input, alongside the work of Local Community Development Committees and Strategic Policy Committees, is central to making the LECP a living, responsive framework that drives sustainable development and growth,” she said.
