April court date for two men
Two men are set to appear before Cork District Court in April following the seizure of €660k of suspected cannabis in Cork city last month.
The men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested on 22 January as part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Cork city. Gardaí stopped and searched a vehicle seizing an initial €50k worth of suspected cannabis. A number of follow-up searches uncovered a further €610k worth of the same substance. The two men were charged and appeared before a special sitting of Mallow District Court on 24 January.
Both men have been remanded to appear before Cork District Court on 22 April.
The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
The substantial seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched in July 2021.
