Cork’s Enable Ireland shops are asking locals to join a nationwide movement to ‘break up with your stuff’.

Break up with your stuff this Valentine’s Day

A charity is asking the people of Cork to join a nationwide movement to ‘break up with your stuff’ and donate pre-loved items to support vital services for people with disabilities.

This February, Enable Ireland shops on 32 North Main Street and 25a Parnell Place and 25a Parnell Place, Cork is taking a cheeky twist on the Valentine's theme.

From Valentine's Day to Saturday 21 February, Enable Ireland shops across the country are aiming to create Ireland’s biggest breakup.

They are encouraging the public to declutter their homes and ‘break up with their stuff’. All high-quality items donated will support Enable Ireland, which provides services to over 13,000 children and adults with disabilities.

Enable Ireland hopes hundreds of Cork locals will finally break up with pre-loved items that they’ve been holding on to but no longer use. Enable Ireland will help these quality items find love again when sold. 100% of profits from items donated to Enable Ireland support disability services. These include vital therapy and support services.

To soften the break-up blow, Enable Ireland Shops are also offering an extra incentive. Donors simply need to come into the shop with a donation and tell staff they want to break up with their stuff. In return, they’ll receive €5 off when they spend over €25 in store.

Oonagh O’Connor, Commercial Manager at Enable Ireland, said: “We all have items we know we’ve been holding onto for far too long. Clothes, accessories, and other items that are still in great condition but, if we’re honest, we know we’ll never use again.

“That’s why we’re asking the public to break up with them this Valentine's! Go through your wardrobes, kitchen presses, and chest of drawers.

“What may no longer have use for you could be exactly what someone else is looking for. We’ll help your donations find the perfect match, and you’ll help raise funds to benefit our vital services!” she said.
