Children from 4th to 6th class at Cahermore National School get ready for the Stand 4 Féile Jersey Day.

Don your favourite jersey for Féile

A voluntary group of former Cork and Kerry GAA players are inviting students, teachers and staff to wear their favourite jersey and make a small donation to support Féile O’Sullivan’s recovery following a life changing accident on the family farm last July.

The Stand 4 Féile Jersey Day will take place on Friday 20 March and the funds raised will provide essential rehabilitation support and future care for Féile, helping to support, encourage, and empower her, and her family, during this extremely challenging journey.

Féile’s mother, Maureen O’Sullivan, said: “Last July, Féile’s life changed forever after a devastating accident on our family farm in Allihies in West Cork. Since then, she has undergone more than 65 surgeries and, despite extraordinary care from her medical team, her legs had to be amputated and she has had to endure a number of significant life changing procedures.”

She added: “With the support of the GAA community, Féile has met each of these challenges with a smile, determination and a great sense of humour. Support for Féile has since spread far beyond the GAA, and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who has played a part in supporting Féile’s recovery so far.”

Garnish GAA, Féile’s home club in West Cork, which has played an enormous role in supporting Féile’s recovery, is encouraging all schools across Cork and Kerry to take part in the Stand 4 Féile Jersey Day.

“As Féile and her family face the next chapter of her recovery, we’re inviting every school across Cork and Kerry to take part in the Stand 4 Féile Jersey Day to help raise vital funds for Féile and to show her that the entire country is fully behind her,” said Finbarr Harrington, Chairman of Garnish GAA.

While the Stand 4 Féile Jersey Day is primarily aimed at schools in Cork and Kerry, everyone throughout the country is welcome to join in.
