Armed robbery in Ballincollig
A woman in her 40s has appeared before a special sitting of Cork District Court on Tuesday 17 March after being charged in relation to two alleged armed robberies in Ballincollig.
The incidents allegedly took place on Sunday 15 March. Gardaí attended the scene after a report of a robbery in Ballincollig at 10.15pm on Sunday evening.
The report said a woman had entered a shop with what it is understood was an imitation firearm. She allegedly threatened staff.
Later that evening, gardaí responded to a separate report in Ballincollig. A woman was said to have entered another shop and threatened someone there. Cash was reported to have been taken from the premises.
A woman was then arrested in connection with the garda investigation, and was held at a garda station in Cork under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Gardaí said an imitation firearm and a number of “bladed instruments” were recovered. The firearm is subject to ballistic analysis.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
Any person who was travelling in the Ballincollig area on Sunday 15 March between 9.30-10.30pm is asked to contact gardaí.
Road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage including dash-cam are asked to make this footage available.
