An adaptation of Roald Dahl’s best loved books is coming to Cork this weekend.

‘Matilda the Musical’ is coming to the Firkin Crane this week for just four performances.

CADA Performing Arts are presenting Roald Dahl's the musical with music and lyrics by the brilliant comedian Tim Minchin based on a book by Dennis Kelly.

The story centres on Matilda Wormwood, a precocious five year old girl with the gift of telekinesis, who loves reading and overcomes obstacles caused by her family and school, and helps her teacher to reclaim her life.

'Matilda the Musical' tells the inspiring and hilarious story of an extraordinary little girl with a big imagination and a fierce sense of right and wrong. Growing up in a world where adults underestimate her at every turn, Matilda learns to use her wit, courage, and determination to stand up for herself and those around her.

Packed with catchy songs, dazzling choreography, and a playful yet empowering message, this musical celebrates the power of knowledge, friendship, and believing in your own potential. With its mix of comedy, heart, and a dash of magic,

Based on Roald Dahl’s 1988 children’s novel, ‘Matilda' became one of the most loved stories in modern literature. The book’s success led to a 1996 film adaptation. The stage musical was developed by the Royal Shakespeare Company, with a book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by comedian and composer Tim Minchin.

The message of Matilda is that children should be listened to. They know and understand more than we think and today's children are tomorrow's adults.

In this musical, CADA pupils will achieve their own personal dreams and aspirations.

CADA Performing Arts have four young actresses, Grace O’Halloran, Kerrie McGinley, Lily-May Sorensen, Jessica O’Donoghue who will join a very talented cast, along with Christopher McSweeney playing the hideous, disciplinarian called Ms Trunchbull (a cross between a weapon and an attack dog).
