The Rory of my life continues

Fitzgerald Park is set to 'rock for Rory' again next month with the return of a free open-air concert celebrating the legacy of Cork guitarist Rory Gallagher.

Following up on last year’s hugely successful debut event, Cork Rocks for Rory is back with an expanded programme for 2026 starting from 11 June.

As well as the concert on 14 June, this year’s festival also includes three new exhibitions in collaboration with the Rory Gallagher Estate. The exhibitions will take place at Cork City Hall, Cork City Library, and Cork Public Museum, and will showcase previously unseen memorabilia, personal effects, and rare photography.

Speaking ahead during the build-up to the festival, Eoin Gallagher, Rory’s nephew, said the family is honoured to be able to continue to celebrate Rory’s life with the people of Cork.

He said: “His life and work continue to inspire new audiences and appreciation worldwide. For the Rory Gallagher Estate, it is a pleasure to assist his hometown showcasing Rory’s music influence and cultural impact to local and international visitors this summer.”

Alongside the planned exhibitions and concert, the public is also encouraged to learn more about Rory’s life by exploring the Stompin’ Ground City Walking Trail which allows visitors to walk in the very steps of Rory through some of his favourite haunts around the city.

Cork Rocks for Rory is organised by Cork City Council, in association with the Rory Gallagher Estate. For more information, visit corkcity.ie.

The free Cork Rocks for Rory 2026 open-air concert takes place in Fitzgerald Park on 14 June from 1-6pm.
