The characters of Crosshaven
A new photographic exhibition celebrating the lives of some of Crosshaven’s most colourful characters will open at Camden Fort Meagher next week.
‘Bádóirí’ (boat people) by award winning local photographer Ted Murphy will open at the famous Crosshaven fort on Munday and will run until the end of October.
The exhibition comprises a compelling collection of photographs, celebrating the lives and personalities of remarkable local individuals from the Crosshaven community.
Through his powerful imagery, Murphy looks to capture the essence of people whose presence and character have shaped the social and cultural fabric of the area.
Describing his work, Murphy said: “The exhibition celebrates the lives of local characters and personalities in Crosshaven. These are people whose individuality, stories, and presence have shaped our community and whose like may never be seen again in this new digital era.”
Set against the historic backdrop of Camden Fort Meagher, the exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to engage with both the heritage of the fort and the living history of the Crosshaven community.
Welcoming the exhibition, newly elected Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Bernard Moynihan praised Murphy’s keen eye and artistry.
He said: “Ted Murphy has captured something truly special in this collection. It is a fitting tribute to the unique characters of Crosshaven, and I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to visit and experience this remarkable body of work.
“I am delighted to welcome this exhibition to Camden Fort Meagher.”
