Public consultation opens on part of the N25 Midleton to Youghal road project

Public consultation has opened on a section of the planned N25 Midleton to Youghal Transport Project.

The N25 Midleton to Youghal Transport Project (N25MY) is being progressed by the Cork National Roads Office on behalf of Cork County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland within a study area that extends from Lakeview in Midleton to Ballyvergan, to the west of Youghal.

This section, Cork County Council said, of the N25 frequently experiences congestion, unreliable journey times and safety issues.

To address these challenges, the N25 Midleton to Youghal Transport Project is being progressed as a long-term strategic transport project that is currently at Phase 2 Option Selection.

Public Consultation No. 1 is seeking feedback on the study area and constraints identified which are shown on the maps available on the project website. The study area, also known as the Constraints Study Area, is established to identify physical, artificial, engineering, and natural limitations within a specific region where options are anticipated to be created and assessed.

The creation of the study area is an ongoing process, and its boundaries are shaped by the results of the constraints, risks, and opportunities analysis, as well as the design development. The study area can change as needed throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

Constraints refer to limitations or restrictions that may affect the design and development of potential options. These include physical, environmental, engineering, regulatory, economic, and community factors.

The online public consultation ends on 29 July at n25midletontoyoughal.ie.

The following information will be available on the project website:
