Presto chango! Magic show gets new venue
Have you heard about the underground magic show you’re not supposed to know about?
Existing somewhere between theatre, illusion, and things that probably shouldn't be possible, Cork’s worst kept secret has moved to a new venue.
After selling out month after month as word spread across Leeside and beyond, Secret Show, Cork’s monthly underground magic experience, is back on 21 July at the Kino on Washington Street.
Having previously inhabited The Liberty Bar on South Main Street, demand has made a bigger space a necessity, but organisers have promised the show will keep the same intimate atmosphere that has made it one of the city's most talked-about live experiences.
Secret Show deliberately keeps audiences in the dark about what they're about to witness. The creators have just one request: no spoilers.
Each edition brings together a handpicked lineup of magicians, each with their own unique style and jaw dropping skillset, making every performance completely different.
The upcoming show on 21 July features three of Ireland's most accomplished performers.
Daniel Cremin is one of Ireland's most exciting theatrical magicians. A performer, producer, and writer, he co-founded Cork Fringe Festival and is known for blending storytelling with impossible moments. His acclaimed one-man show, ‘Why Magic?’ has received recognition for its unique narrative approach to magic.
Joining him is deception artist Davey McAuley, whose decades-long career has taken him from cruise ships and festivals to corporate events and even Ripley's Believe It or Not! Times Square in New York City. He combines sleight of hand, pickpocketing, comedy, escapes, and audience interaction to create performances that are as funny as they are baffling.
Also appearing is Nikola Arkane, one of Ireland's most decorated close-up magicians. Originally from Belfast, she has appeared on ‘Penn & Teller: Fool Us’, performed at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, toured internationally, and won multiple prestigious magic competitions, including the Allan Slaight Rising Star Award.
Each ticket for next Tuesday’s show at the Kino includes a complimentary drink voucher. Seating is intentionally limited to preserve the close-up, immersive atmosphere that audiences have come to love. Tickets are on sale via Eventbrite.com.
