Billy beach bag from byReidin.

I’m off on a little jolly this weekend, with a staycation in Wicklow and with the weather being this good, I plan on spending most of my time at the beach.

I’ve been super organised for this trip, and I’ve pretty much done all my packing but I am still pondering what essentials I need to pack in my beach bag. You’ve got some things to consider when packing a beach bag like sun protection, staying hydrated and of course looking super stylish while lounging on your towel. Here are some of the things I’ll be popping in my bag.

Of course, you won’t get very far with your day at the beach if you don’t have the perfect beach bag to hold all your essentials. I am loving the Billy beach bag in the pink and red stripe by Irish label byReidin. The Billy bag is bringing joy to any look with its bright and zesty colours, and I love that it comes in a terry towel fabric making it also super durable and it also comes with a fully waterproof lining and inner pocket. The Billy bag is oversized by design, so you’ll fit your towel, swimwear, sunscreen and all your other bits and bobs plus the signature byReidin bow makes it very aesthetically pleasing ticking all the boxes.

Cotton and summer dressing go hand in hand, and I’ll always head to boutique Juniper Lane for gorgeous 100% cotton pieces. Juniper Lane uses 100% cotton for both daywear, and their iconic nightwear sets and one of their bestsellers are the stunning, printed kaftans. The kaftan is one piece I will always bring with me on holidays, it’s loose and flowy but also really stylish and is light and airy so works well over swimwear at the beach or for pottering around sightseeing. The kaftan is also very versatile, and I have on occasion wore it with a heel and some statement jewellery for dinner. You can also change up the look and cinch in the waist if you prefer a more fitted silhouette. If you’re looking for a kaftan with a print that really makes a statement, then Juniper Lane is the place to go.

If I’m settling down for a day at the beach, I also need some comfortable sandals. In hot weather I can’t stand anything with lots of straps or buckles on my feet. I want something very basic I can just slip into and luckily the jelly thong sandal is this summer’s hottest shoe choice. There are versions of these everywhere, but I spotted a khaki green pair in H&M that will go with everything and the jelly material means you’ll probably wear these every summer such is the durability. They’re also easy to clean so no need to panic when they get covered in wet sand because essentially you can’t be precious about anything that you bring to the beach. I personally am a sand magnet so everything will get covered.

When it’s super hot, I find it can be quite uncomfortable to wear sunglasses but of course you need to keep the sun out of your eyes so I always have a sun hat on hand for such purposes. I love a colourful baseball cap to add a little brightness to my look, but I am also quite taken with a bucket hat.

It adds another level of protection to your face and eyes from the sun and adds to the styling of your outfit. Just pop your factor 50 in your bag and you’re ready to go.
