Mission gull-possible!

Volunteers from the Cork Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CSPCA) carried out a flawless operation last week, rescuing a young herring gull who found himself trapped in the gardens of the offices of Cork City Council.

McQueen - who received his moniker from CSPCA staff following his rescue - got himself into trouble when he flew into the structure but found that he couldn’t then get out.

CSPCA staff said the height of the structure is what led to his struggle to leave.

After being called to the site of the emergency, CSPCA staff were able to rescue McQueen. He was then taken back to a CSPCA shelter where he was assessed.

Thankfully, his assessment came back all green, and he was bedded down for the night, for a badly needed rest after his ordeal.

After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast, McQueen bade farewell to his rescuers, and flew off for pastures new.
