Be inspired in your retirement
A major event returns to Cork next month offering a whole host of displays, demonstrations, workshops and talks aimed at retired people.
The 50 Plus Show is returning to Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa for the 5th consecutive year on 8 & 9 September.
Over 70 different events will take place - all designed to inspire people in their retirement.
Attractions include free cooking demonstrations & health screenings, arts & crafts workshops, artificial intelligence (AI), bridge workshops & genealogy workshops, antique and collectable valuations plus 60 exhibitors covering health, rights & entitlements, volunteering, personal finance, home & abroad holidays, energy savings, as well as hobbies & pastimes and more.
Guest speakers
Newstalk presenter and financial advisor Sinead Ryan, will be speaking on both days on Wills, Inheritance and the Fair Deal Scheme: everything you want to know but are afraid to ask.
Also speaking and available to chat afterwards will be Irish Times education columnist and guidance counsellor Brian Mooney, who will be giving some food for thought about the conversations people need to consider having about their retirement - their second life.
Antique valuations
New to this year’s event will be an appearance by antiques expert Eric Knowles known to many from his regular appearances on BBC’s ‘Antiques Roadshow’ and ‘Bargain Hunt’. Eric will be available to give valuations of any items over the 2 days as well as giving a talk on collecting as a hobby.
Improve your digital skills
ALONE’s Hi Digital team will be at this year’s 50 Plus Show in the Radisson Blu Hotel providing information on Hi Digital and ALONE’s wider services, and giving practical, on-the-spot support with your digital device. Also present will be the Age-Friendly AI training programme team, Ireland’s National Artificial Intelligence Literacy Initiative for Older Adults and will be hosting a workshop titled: An Introduction to Artificial Intelligence – Learn the Benefits & Risks.
