Three Cork disability services to see investment
Three disability infrastructure projects in Cork are to receive investment under the HSE's 2026/2027 Capital Plan.
The projects will receive part of the €9.5 million announced by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality announced yesterday, Wednesday 4 November.
In Carrigrohane, the funding will be used for upgrades for the children's respite property at Lavanagh House, run by Enable Ireland.
In Ballincollig, it will be used to acquire and refurbish St Peter's Parish Centre on Model Farm Road. An adult day service will be established in the refurbished centre in line with the HSE's New Direction Framework.
In Ballinhassig, the funding will allow for the purchase and refurbishment of a property to provide four residential places.
The projects in Ballincollig and Ballinhassig are both run by Corlann South.
The investment forms part of the broader National Development Plan, which looks to provide €278 million in funding for HSE disability capital projects up to 2030.
It follows a targeted call to action issued by the HSE earlier this year to Section 38 and Section 39 disability service providers, seeking proposals for capital projects that were already well advanced and aligned with local service requirements.
Minister of State for Community Development, Charities and Transport Jerry Buttimer TD welcomed the announcement.
"I am particularly pleased to see three projects in Cork included among the developments being progressed.
"Investment in children's respite services, residential accommodation and adult day services is essential to supporting individuals and families, while ensuring that people with disabilities can access the services they need close to home," he said.
