Go west to enjoy Ireland's best hotel chef and more
The award for Ireland's Best Chef has gone to Daniel Glavin, Executive Chef at the Lake Hotel Killarney. Glavin won the award at the annual Irish Hotel Awards in the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk on Monday 19 October.
The Lake Hotel also took how the aware for Ireland's Best Breakfast.
Following an in-depth inspection earlier this year, the family-run hotel took home two prestigious national titles on the night and also received an Excellence in Service award in recognition of its outstanding guest service and customer care.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Shane Smith, Director of NI Media who run the awards, said: "The Irish Hotel Awards shine a spotlight on the people and properties who set the standard for hospitality in Ireland."
With over 17 years of culinary experience, Glavin brings a refined and creative approach to food. His calm, confident leadership makes him a driving force in any kitchen.
He said: "This award would not be possible without my amazing team. Their passion and drive ensures impeccable dining experiences for every guest. I'm also very fortunate to have the support of my partner Sinead, who is devoted to caring for our three young boys. Without her support, I would not be able to do what I do," he added.
The Lake Hotel's accolade for Ireland's Best Breakfast applauds exquisite dining and exemplary service. This achievement is due to the commitment of Restaurant Manager Anthony Barber, Executive Chef Daniel Glavin, Head Breakfast Chef Asta Penggai, and all their teams. The Lake Hotel offers an extensive breakfast buffet featuring a selection of both cooked and continental items.
From freshly baked goods prepared by Pastry Chef Coralie Pichard to full Irish breakfast or made-to-order dishes like Eggs Benedict, carefully curated by Head Breakfast Chef, Asta Penggai and her team - the variety of breakfast options, quality of food, and high level of service solidified this esteemed award.
