Style inspo at its very finest

September is such a busy month on the fashion calendar, what with the worldwide fashion weeks taking place, as well as the changing over of the summer to autumn stock.

It’s also a time where a lot of press previews take place and last week I was up in Dublin at the Bestseller AW19 fashion preview.

It took place in the coolest venue in Inchicore in a place called Rascal’s craft beer brewery which was the perfect spot to showcase all the beautiful bits that will be hitting stores like Vila, Only and Vero Moda in the next few months.

I always come away with so many pieces earmarked for my own wardrobe but also with an idea of some pieces that I would like to shoot for various photoshoots.

One of my favourite looks from brand day had to be from Vero Moda and was a look comprised of such easy to wear basics and wardrobe staples that there was no doubt you would get great wear out of each piece in this look.

It, of course, featured a fantastic pair of straight leg jeans, in fact this label is a great place to go if you’re looking for good, affordable denim.

On top, it was all about layering which of course I loved and saw a simple cream roll neck layered under a brown corduroy shirt and navy longline blazer. It was just so chic and stylish and I will be recreating the look myself when it gets a little cooler.

Another key feature we can expect to see on the high street are statement sleeves and this was in abundance at Vero Moda. There was a really easy to wear pink top with a gauzy polka dot sleeve that would dress up the aforementioned straight leg jeans or would look cool paired with some leather joggers and heels. I also spotted a really unusual burnt orange dress with a statement sleeve that would not be out of place at a winter wedding or event just add some metallic or green heels for a truly unique look.

Now, I don’t need to tell you that I am partial to a dress or two, so of course I was on the lookout for a really great printed dress or two and of course Vila did not disappoint. What I particularly loved was how they have taken gingham which I generally associate with summer and have brought it right along into autumn in a rusty coloured shirt dress which I would style over a roll neck and with some ankle boots or trainers.

Dresses, especially day dresses, should be easy to wear and take very little effort to style and there were plenty of dresses like that in this seasonal preview including a beautiful patterned dress with long sleeves and a cute pussy bow neckline which I would definitely layer under a chunky knit to give it a skirt and top feel, just to really change up the look and get value for money.

If dresses aren’t your thing, there was also plenty of lace and patterned blouses which are perfect partners for jeans and a blazer and make for the best and easiest to wear autumn outfits. You can also switch up the blazer for leather jacket to give it a more relaxed and boho feel.

What I love most about these press days is that you get loads of style inspiration and I usually end up coming home and styling my own pieces in new ways.
