Blarney calls for local support

A Blarney business group is urging the public to shop local after the area was hit by Covid-19 restrictions in the last number of months.

The #ShopLocal campaign was recently launched by the Blarney and District Chamber Of Commerce who say that now, more than ever, is the time to support local businesses and local jobs. The Chamber said any gestures, such as buying a coffee or a voucher as a gift can make all the difference to affected businesses.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Local businesses have been integral to our community and we are so lucky to have so many diverse businesses in our area run by amazing hard working people. These businesses have always supported us by generously giving vouchers or spot prizes or supplying facilities for meetings and training sessions and have kindly stepped in to help our needy throughout this crises.

“Now it’s up to us to make sure that these businesses stay open and keep people in jobs as they begin to open up again throughout the next phases. We need to be there at their door to support them because if not for these people our local teams might not have had sponsorships for jerseys or we wouldn’t have so many great places for us to go and eat or have a drink.”
