A dog called Max was saved from a smoke filled house this week on Leeside by fire crews.

On Tuesday, crews from Cork City Fire Brigade responded to a house fire in Dillons Cross.

Crews extinguished the fire and searched the smoke-filled property where they rescued an unresponsive dog.

Taking to Twitter, Cork City Fire Brigade said Max was given oxygen and was then brought to a local vet for treatment.

“Thankfully he’s now on the mend,” said the message.

Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital later said Max “is doing super well”.
