No foul play in Mahon death

Foul play is no longer suspected in the death of a man in unexplained circumstances in Cork city on New Year’s Eve

The man, who was in his 40s, was found unconscious in a housing estate in Mahon shortly after 8.30am on 31 December.

He was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel before being removed to CUH where he was later pronounced dead.

The scene was preserved for a full technical examination. Following preliminary results of the post-mortem and local policing enquires, gardaí confirmed they no longer suspect any foul play in connection with the man’s death. A file will now be prepared for the coroner.
