ELEVEN Australia Lock in your Colour event.

Hair raising event at Cork City Gaol

There aren’t too many things that would have me out on a school night, especially a Sunday evening where you will mostly find me lying on the couch binge watching some true crime documentary whilst eating a takeaway.

However, when the fabulous folk at National B are hosting an event you know it will be a truly amazing party. The glad rags were donned last Sunday evening and off I went to the ELEVEN Australia colour launch which took place in the Cork City Gaol.

I had only been up here once before when early in our relationship when husband decided it would be a great idea to go on a date in the Gaol....on Valetine’s Day. Needless to say I was less than impressed with the date plans however a cool hair event, count me in.

The event, which was to launch the ELEVEN Australia permanent colour range was full of inspiration and truly show stopping hair, which was curated by Melvin Royce Lane, ELEVEN education ambassador and the insanely talented Martina Gahan who is the head of education for the brand in Ireland.

Conor Doyle did some great on-stage styling demos and you know we love to pick up some tips at an event and of course there was extra drama when a bat gate crashed the stage which just further proved that the location provided the perfect back drop for an evening of gorgeous hair.

We had delicious cocktails and I felt very old the next day when my 3 cocktails had me wide awake at 5am. Is this what approaching 40 in a few weeks does to you?!

I also was super delighted with myself as in trying to figure out what to wear to the event I found a deep green, embossed leopard print suit that I had bought years ago in H&M and couldn’t for the life of me remember where I had put it.

It was in fact in my parents’ house in a wardrobe I have been known to store stuff on occasion. It was perfect as I knew I wanted to wear something that would keep me warm and comfortable (again when did I get so old and sensible) but obviously look dressy. I paired it with my trusty leopard print boots, another old purchase from River Island and lashings of gold jewellery including a snake vintage necklace from Hazels Nuts About Vintage. Leopard on leopard with a bit of snake thrown in, what’s not to love?

On Monday I was up bright and early and on Opera Lane to style their spring fashion campaign which we shot at The Dean Hotel and got some amazing shots by the pool at the Power gym. If you haven’t been to this pool, then I urge you to book a glass in the gym an book some pool time.

It is the coolest space and such a relaxing vibe. The shoot has got me totally inspired for the season ahead and for someone so into colour I was really drawn to the black and white looks including a stylish and very handy polka dot dress from H&M that would be a fabulous addition to your wardrobe and so easy to take you from work to bar.

Another item I was absolutely obsessed with was a pair of white shoes from Office that have Gucci vibes but without the price tag and they may just be top of my wishlist now.
