Munster Technological University (MTU) and Southeastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) have officially signed a joint research agreement.

The agreement aims to allow for increased collaborative research between the two universities and facilitating the joint supervision of PHD candidates within the XAMK academic community.

The agreement will allow the universities to share knowledge, resources, and expertise. This in turn will enable them to pursue joint research projects, co-author publications and introduce new innovative educational programmes. The collaboration between the two universities also marks an important step in the INGENIUM European University Alliance , which aims to create an united academic community between those participating in the alliance.

This marks a milestone in their collaboration under the INGENIUM European University Alliance. Prof. Maggie Cusack the President of MTU and Prof. Heikki Saastamoinen, President and CEO of XAMK attended the signing ceremony held at the MTU Bishopstown Campus recently.

Prof. Maggie Cusack addressed the importance of this collaboration: “This joint research agreement with XAMK not only symbolises our commitment to academic excellence and innovation but also aligns perfectly with the INGENIUM European University Alliance's mission. Together, we are poised to make significant contributions to global research and education.”

Professor Heikki Saastamoinen said the collaboration will be beneficial for the staff and students in the universities: “The collaboration between XAMK and MTU under this agreement is a testament to our shared vision of creating a more connected and innovative academic community. Through our joint efforts, we aim to provide our region, students and staff with unparalleled opportunities for research and learning.”
