Baltimore lands major award

There were a number of Cork winners at the prestigious Georgina Campbell Irish Food & Hospitality Awards, including an entire village!

Ireland's best hotel, chef, pub, and newcomer of 2026 were all revealed and included Casey’s Hotel in Glengarriff, Ballymaloe House Hotel, Prim’s Bookshop and Wine Bar in Kinsale and beautiful Baltimore, which was named Food Village of the Year.

Baltimore boasts not one but two Michelin-awarded restaurants along with a number of excellent dining option as well as some great food stores too. The village is a real culinary gem!

Now in their fourth decade, these are the longest-running awards of their kind in Ireland.

The ceremony celebrated the country's best fine dining establishments, B&Bs and guesthouses, five-star hotels, global cuisine cooks, and breakfast makers.

Georgina Campbell highlighted the threat to the personal connection traditionally associated with Irish hospitality, as businesses increasingly turn to technology, automation and digital transactions.

“In many places we visited, we could see how warm human interaction is being replaced by cold digital transactions,” said Georgina Campbell. “The very qualities that once defined good hospitality, such as knowing a guest's name, offering a cup of tea, or simply taking the time to have a conversation, are becoming less common.

“The timeless art of hospitality has never been more valuable, or more urgently needed,” she said. “Exceptional hospitality is about creating a connection and an experience that guests will remember and, importantly, tell others about.”
